The Mid-Autumn Festival is more than a traditional Chinese holiday. It is a celebration of reunion, gratitude, good wishes, and the precious moments we share with the people around us.
At INNOCEM LUXURY, based in Xiamen, Fujian Province, this year's Mid-Autumn celebration gave our team an opportunity to experience one of the most beloved traditions of Southern Fujian — Bo Bing, the traditional Mid-Autumn dice game. With laughter, festive prizes, a delicious dinner, and glasses raised in celebration, we spent a memorable evening together while experiencing a unique part of local Minnan culture.
The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, falls on the 15th day of the eighth month of the Chinese lunar calendar. It is one of China's most important traditional festivals and is closely associated with family reunion, moon appreciation, gratitude, and good wishes.
The full moon has traditionally been associated with completeness and reunion. Because the Chinese word for “round” shares a connection with the idea of “reunion,” the festival has long been a special occasion for families and friends to gather together. For many people, the Mid-Autumn Festival means returning home, sharing a meal with family, enjoying mooncakes, and looking at the full moon together. Today, the festival continues to combine traditional customs with modern celebrations, bringing people together both at home and in workplaces.
Across different regions of China, the Mid-Autumn Festival is celebrated in a variety of ways. Some traditions are widely shared, while others are unique to particular regions.
Food is an important part of many Chinese festivals, and Mid-Autumn Festival is no exception.
Families often prepare a special dinner and gather around the same table. Beyond the food itself, the meaning lies in being together. For people who work or live far from their hometowns, the festival is an especially meaningful opportunity to reconnect with family and friends.
While mooncakes and moon appreciation are familiar to people throughout China, Bo Bing is a particularly distinctive Mid-Autumn tradition in Xiamen and the wider Minnan region of Southern Fujian.
Bo Bing, written as 博饼 in Chinese, is often translated as the “Mooncake Dice Game.”
The traditional game is played with six dice and a bowl. Participants take turns throwing the dice, and different combinations determine different prize levels.
The game has strong roots in the folk culture of the Xiamen and Southern Fujian region. China's official intangible cultural heritage resources describe Xiamen's Mid-Autumn Bo Bing as a folk custom that had already become popular in the Minnan and Xiamen areas by the late Ming and early Qing period.
The game also has a fascinating connection with traditional Chinese examination culture. Prize categories such as Zhuangyuan (状元), traditionally referring to the highest-ranking candidate in the imperial examination, give the game a distinctive cultural character.

The basic idea is simple:
Roll the dice → Check the combination → Win a prize → Keep playing and sharing the excitement. Six dice are thrown into a bowl, and the combination determines the corresponding prize. Traditionally, different levels of prizes were associated with different results, with Zhuangyuan representing the highest prize.
But Bo Bing is not simply about winning. The most memorable part is often the atmosphere around the table.
Everyone watches the dice as they fall. Someone cheers. Someone laughs. Someone gets a surprising combination. And when a player gets a particularly good result, the whole table can suddenly become excited. That shared anticipation and laughter is what makes Bo Bing such a special part of the Mid-Autumn experience in Xiamen.
This year, our team at INNOCEM LUXURY brought this traditional Minnan custom into our own company celebration.
Instead of simply having a dinner, we gathered together for an exciting round of Bo Bing. Everyone took turns rolling the dice and looking forward to the results. The table was filled with laughter, cheers, surprises, and festive prizes.
Some colleagues were lucky enough to win several prizes, while others continued rolling and hoping for their next chance. But ultimately, the most valuable part was not the prizes. It was the experience of being together.

After the exciting Bo Bing game, our team gathered around the dinner table for a wonderful Mid-Autumn meal. We shared food, talked about our lives, laughed about the evening's Bo Bing results, and raised our glasses together. The atmosphere was warm and relaxed.
For a company, moments like these provide an opportunity to step away from daily work and simply enjoy time together as colleagues and friends. The traditional meaning of Mid-Autumn Festival — reunion and togetherness — became part of our own company culture.
At INNOCEM LUXURY, we believe company culture is not only about work, targets, and achievements. A strong company is also built through: Connection, appreciation, teamwork, trust, shared experiences, meaningful moments.
Celebrating traditional festivals together allows people from different backgrounds and generations to connect with the culture around them.
For an international company based in Xiamen, it is also an opportunity to share a part of our local culture with customers, partners, and friends around the world. Our Mid-Autumn celebration is therefore not simply an internal company event. It is also a small window into Chinese culture and Minnan traditions.
At INNOCEM LUXURY, Xiamen is not only where our company is located.
It is part of our identity.

The Mid-Autumn Festival reminds us that no matter how busy life becomes, there is always value in making time for the people around us.
A round moon.
A shared meal.
A bowl of dice.
A table full of laughter.
These simple moments can create lasting memories. For us, the sound of dice rolling during Bo Bing represented more than a traditional game. It represented connection, good wishes, and the joy of being together.
As we continue working with customers and partners around the world, we are grateful for every member of our team who contributes to our journey.

May the full moon bring reunion, happiness, health, and success to you and your loved ones.
May every gathering be filled with laughter.
May every new journey bring good fortune.
And perhaps, if you ever visit Xiamen during the Mid-Autumn Festival, you will have the opportunity to sit around a table, pick up six dice, and experience the excitement of Bo Bing for yourself.
“At INNOCEM LUXURY, we believe that a strong team is built not only through collaboration, but also through shared experiences, laughter, and genuine connection.”
