"SOLI" is designed based on the simple shape of a bookend with basic elements. One finishing point is added to actualise the function of storage by one bookend individually, rather than two. Designers choose one disk embedded cement tile as the point, and the disk can be rotated to alter effective space for books flexibly, which makes “SOLI” more interesting, colourful and enjoyable.“SOLI” can be placed at the bedside, desk or anywhere and moved anytime, making reading more accessible.
Aluminium is used as the material of bookend, and is processed with anodising and sand blasting to show the harmonious degree of reflectivity. The frame of the disk uses aluminium or brass to satisfy different athletic demands, and the brass is dealed with mirror polishing and oxidation treatment. The bookend and the disk are connected with a tiny inner structure to actualise the function of rotation in the paper-thin bookend. The designer tested the rotation of the disk repeatedly to achieve the feeling of smoothness and resistance, allowing it to be rotated finely and freely.
